Prior to making my life-long hobby & passion a career, I spent several years working in integration and humanitarian relief efforts for refugees, migrants and asylum seekers in Germany, France and England. Most recently, I conceptualized and headed the employment law help desk of a non-profit organization in Magdeburg, central Germany, where I advised and assisted people from various countries (largely Syria and Afghanistan) on issues and questions related to German employment law, particularly abuses, exploitation and forced labour. Together with the dedicated team at the twin project for Eastern European workers, I’ve worked toward ensuring the visibility of the issues at a (local) political level.
While I pursued my years in this field with passion and appreciation, meeting inspiring people and forming unique friendships along the way, I eventually made the choice to withdraw completely for personal and health reasons.
I’d like to make it clear that my political views about the importance of this work and the severity of these issues are still 100% the same.
I received my MA in Conflict Resolution from King’s College London and my BA in International Relations from University College Maastricht.
